After senior high school

The register holds 819 institutions past senior high school, spread across every one of Ghana’s 16 regions. Each is listed with what it is and where it is. We hold no programme lists and we will not estimate them. Fees appear when an institution publishes them through its SchoolRegistry profile, and we never estimate them. The cut-off points that UG, KNUST and UCC publish are on their own pages.

By what they are

By region

Concentration is the point here. The top three regions hold 38% of everything past senior high, which is worth knowing before a family plans around staying close to home.

What this page does not tell you

We hold no programme lists for any institution here, so none appear, fees appear only when an institution publishes them through its profile, and the only cut-off points we show are the three universities’ own. A directory that guessed at a cut-off would be worse than one that admits it does not know, because a family would plan around the guess. For requirements and any fees not published here, go to the institution. If you run one of these, claim the page and put the real figures on it.

Questions about studying past senior high

How many institutions are there past senior high school?
The register holds 819 across 7 categories: 55 universities, 76 tertiary colleges, 11 technical universities, 50 colleges of education, 178 nursing and midwifery training, 13 professional institutes, 436 vocational and technical. Every one of the 16 regions has at least one.
Do you publish entry requirements or cut-off points?
Only where the university publishes them. We copy the cut-off points of the University of Ghana, KNUST and UCC from their own pages, with the year and the day we read them. For every other institution we hold what it is and where it is, not requirements, programmes or fees, and we will not estimate them.
What is a technical university?
The former polytechnics. Ghana began converting them from 2016, so you will see both names in circulation and older documents will say polytechnic for the same institution.
Is this every institution in Ghana?
It is every one in the Ministry of Education census register and the lists published by the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission, the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana and the Ghana TVET Service. A register is always behind reality, so an institution that opened recently may be missing. If yours is, send it to us and we will check and add it.
