How to check your WASSCE results
There is one official route, and it is free to open. Only WAEC can show you a result, and nobody else holds your grade.
- 1Check the addressThe official addresses are waecgh.org and ghana.waecdirect.org. WAEC links to the second from the first, so start at waecgh.org if you are unsure. Anything else is not WAEC.
- 2Open the results checker for the WASSCEOn waecgh.org, choose Result Checker, then WASSCE School/Private. It opens WAEC Direct Ghana.
- 3Have your details readyYour index number as printed on your registration, and the scratch card serial number and PIN. WAEC’s FAQ describes the route as buying a scratch card and logging on.
- 4Read, then saveSave or print the page. If a subject shows as pending, or a result is withheld or cancelled, read the sections below before doing anything else.
- 5Or ask your schoolWAEC gives each head of school login details to see the results of every candidate in the school. If you cannot get through, your head of school can look you up.
Fake checkers and result fixers
WAEC says plainly that it does not upgrade results, and that anyone promising to change a grade for a fee is a fraudster. It also warns about fake websites and fake social media accounts. Look at the address bar before you type an index number, and do not send your details to a number or a link in a chat group.

Cancelled, withheld and pending results
These three words mean different things, and WAEC defines them in its FAQ.
| Word | What WAEC says it means |
|---|---|
| Cancelled | A final decision that the candidate's performance in a subject, or the whole exam, is void because of malpractice. The candidate or school is told formally. |
| Withheld | The result has not been released although the exam results were released overall. It usually means the candidate is being investigated. If found innocent, the full result is released. |
| Pending | No malpractice issue. The cause is usually something like wrong registration details, and WAEC says the result is released once the information is sorted out. |
If your result is withheld or cancelled, WAEC’s notice of 4 September 2026 tells candidates to go to the Council’s irregularity website, irreg.waecgh.org, and use the candidate login for the details of the case. After the 2026 release, the Ghanaian Times reported that some candidates found subjects pending even though nothing was cancelled or withheld, and that WAEC said it would resolve these quickly so candidates could meet university deadlines.

What the grades mean
WASSCE grades run from A1, the best, down to F9. For university entry the line that matters is the credit: grades A1 to C6. The University of Ghana states it directly: an applicant needs at least credits (A1 to C6 in the WASSCE) in English, core mathematics and integrated science or social studies, plus three electives, with a total aggregate not above 30. Other universities set their own rules, and the best ones to follow are on their own admission pages.
We do not print a table of mark ranges, because WAEC Ghana does not publish one on waecgh.org and we will not copy a table from a site that cannot say where it got it. Grades D7 and E8 sit below the credit level and F9 is the lowest grade, but check the exact wording on your own certificate.

Re-marking and missing results
- Re-marking. WAEC says a candidate who is not satisfied can appeal for re-marking. School candidates do it through their school, and private candidates do it themselves. You normally have to give a reason and pay a fee, and the request must be made within two months (60 days) of the release of the results. Counting 60 days from 4 September 2026 is our own arithmetic, and it lands on 3 November 2026, so ask your school this week rather than waiting.
- A result that is missing. Start with your head of school, who can see every candidate in the school. If it is still missing, write to WAEC on info@waecgh.org or call +233 302 208201-9, and have your index number and school name ready.
- Certificates. WAEC says certificates for school candidates are issued six months after the results and are sent to the school.

When WAEC released the results in past years
There is no fixed date. The last five releases ranged from early September to the last days of December, and 2026 was the earliest of the five. This is why we do not guess the date for 2027. The bars show how many candidates sat each year.

After the results

Questions about WASSCE results
- Is the WASSCE 2026 results out?
- Yes. WAEC released the provisional 2026 results for school candidates on 4 September 2026. The results of 8,295 candidates were cancelled or withheld, and some candidates found individual subjects showing as pending. Both are covered further down this page.
- How to get WAEC PIN 2026?
- WAEC's own FAQ says to buy a scratch card and log on to waecgh.org. The WAEC pages we read do not say where scratch cards are sold or what one costs, so we cannot give you a seller or a price. Ask your school first, because heads of school are given login details for the whole school. If you still need a card, ask WAEC directly on info@waecgh.org or +233 302 208201-9 before you pay anyone. Do not hand your PIN or index number to any site that is not on waecgh.org or waecdirect.org.
- What score is A1 in WASSCE 2026?
- A1 is the top grade, and F9 is the lowest. WAEC Ghana does not publish the mark range behind each grade, so we do not print one. Ranges such as 75 to 100 for A1 appear on many sites, but none comes from WAEC Ghana. Your result slip shows your grade in each subject, and that is the only figure that counts.
- Is E8 a pass in WASSCE?
- E8 sits below the credit level. Universities ask for credits, which means grades A1 to C6; the University of Ghana says so in its own admissions FAQ. D7 and E8 are described on public summaries of the scale as pass grades and F9 as a fail, but we could not find that table on waecgh.org, so check the wording on your own certificate and with the institution you are applying to.
- Which date will the WASSCE results be released?
- The 2026 results were released on 4 September 2026. WAEC has not announced a release date for the 2027 results. For comparison, the last five releases fell on 4 September 2026, 29 November 2025, 31 December 2024, 19 December 2023, 1 December 2022.
- How to check WASSCE result on phone?
- Open waecgh.org in your phone's browser, choose Result Checker, then WASSCE School/Private. That link takes you to WAEC Direct Ghana. You need your index number and the scratch card details WAEC gives you. The WAEC pages we read do not describe a text-message or app service for WASSCE results.
- What is * 899 * 550 result?
- This code appears nowhere on waecgh.org or in any WAEC notice, so treat it as unofficial, and do not dial it or send an index number to it. Use the website on waecgh.org instead.
- How to check 2026 WAEC?
- Go to waecgh.org, open Result Checker and choose the exam. For the WASSCE you will be sent to WAEC Direct Ghana, where you enter your index number and your scratch card serial number and PIN. Your head of school can also see the results for the whole school.
- How do I check my results?
- For the WASSCE, use the results checker on waecgh.org (it leads to WAEC Direct Ghana). For BECE placement, use cssps.gov.gh. For university admission, use that university's own admission status page. We list all of them on our official portals page.
- How can I check my WAEC result online?
- Buy a scratch card, then log on to waecgh.org, which is how WAEC's own FAQ describes it. Pick the WASSCE results checker, enter the details exactly as on your registration, and print or save the page you get.
