About Bono Region
Bono Region has Sunyani as its capital. It was formed in 2019 from what was left of the old Brong Ahafo Region after Bono East and Ahafo were created. About 1,208,649 people lived here at the 2021 census, across 12 districts and 11,113 square kilometres. The region borders Cote d'Ivoire to the west. Sunyani is the centre for higher education. The University of Energy and Natural Resources, Sunyani Technical University and the Catholic University of Ghana at Fiapre are all based there. Many families farm cashew and other crops, and Bui National Park holds the largest hippo population in Ghana. Exam results before 2019 were reported for Brong Ahafo as a whole, so older figures cover three regions today. Use the SchoolRegistry directory to compare schools near you.
