About SchoolRegistry Ghana

SchoolRegistry Ghana lists 43,626 schools across 16 regions and 261 districts, each traced to a named source. We publish no ratings, we never estimate a fee, and we show the date and source behind every figure.

What we publish

The base of the directory is the Ministry of Education school register for 2023/24. Specialised institutions such as universities, technical universities and nursing colleges are added from the lists their own regulators publish. Exam and admission guides point to the official portals and say when we last checked them. The full list of sources, with publisher, year and link, is on the methodology page.

The directory data is open under CC BY 4.0. You may reuse it with credit to SchoolRegistry.

Editorial standards

  • Every figure names its publisher and year. If we cannot name the source, the figure does not appear.
  • We never estimate. A missing field is shown as missing, and a date nobody has announced is shown as not announced.
  • We rank no school and print no ratings, because we hold no school-level results. Regions and districts are ranked only on published data, with the year.
  • A school fee appears only when the school published it through its profile, with the date.
  • Exam and admission dates are marked official, reported by the press, or not announced. We check results and placements on no one's behalf and never ask for index numbers.
  • Guides link to the official portal first. Checking a placement is free.

Corrections

For school records, write to data@schoolregistryghana.com from an address at the school, naming the school and the field that is wrong. For guides and news, a wrong fact is corrected in place within 24 hours of being reported or found. The story carries a visible note with the date, what changed and why. Every correction is listed on this page. If a source later withdraws its statement, the story is marked as withdrawn and stays online. To report an error, write to press@schoolregistryghana.com.

Read how we handle data for what each record status means and what we deliberately leave out.

Research partner

PollsAfrica is a sister research firm in the same research group as SchoolRegistry Ghana. It runs independent opinion polls and publishes sourced public data across Africa. We link to it where its work helps a reader, and the two sites keep separate data and editorial teams.

Common questions

What is SchoolRegistry Ghana?
A free directory of 43,626 schools in Ghana, from kindergarten to university, built from the Ministry of Education school register and the lists published by the regulators. It also carries plain guides to exam results, school placement and university entry.
Who is it for?
Students and parents choosing a school, schools that want their page to be right, and teachers, researchers, charities and government staff who need a dependable list of schools with its sources shown.
Do you charge to be listed?
No. Every school on the register is listed free, whether or not it ever contacts us. A school can claim its page at no cost and add what no public register holds.
How do I report a mistake?
Write to data@schoolregistryghana.com, name the page and what is wrong, and say where the right figure is published. A correction confirmed by the school itself replaces what the register says.
