Study abroad from Ghana: a free plan, and a counsellor to follow it through
Tell us the student, the budget and where you are open to going. You get a shortlist of destinations your family can afford, what a year costs in cedis, the funds each visa asks for and what to prepare. A counsellor then follows up. Universities pay us when a student enrols, so it costs your family nothing, and we never promise admission or a visa.
Last checked 8 October 2026. Destination figures checked 2026-10-05. Planning bands, not offers.
How it works
Step 1
Your plan
Grades, budget, destinations and timing. About two minutes.
Step 2
Shortlist and flags
Destinations your budget reaches, in cedis, and the things in your file an officer will look at, before any money moves.
Step 3
A counsellor
A person contacts you within one working day: programmes, documents, the real invoice, and the application through our partner platform.
Step 4
Offer, deposit, visa file
We help with the offer and the deposit, then prepare the visa file. The visa application is yours, and we do not lodge it for you.
What your family pays, and to whom
| Item | Paid to | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| SchoolRegistry Pathways placement | Nobody | GH₵0 |
| Application fee | The university, if it charges one | Set by the university |
| English test | IELTS, TOEFL, PTE or Duolingo | Set by the test provider |
| Tuition deposit | The university, after the offer | Set by the university |
| Visa fee and medical | The embassy or its visa centre | Set by each country |
| Proof of funds | Your own bank account | Shown per destination below |
We list no amounts for the third-party fees because each provider sets and changes its own. Ask your counsellor for the current invoice before you pay anyone.
Destinations, with typical yearly cost for an undergraduate
Tuition plus living costs, converted to cedis at the live rate (US$1 = GH₵11.69, rates read 15 Oct 2026, 02:13 UTC). These are planning bands, not offers. The rules change every year and we re-check them each intake. We do not yet show how likely a visa refusal is for Ghanaian applicants.

We do not promise admission or a visa, to anyone.
What we do is put the right file in front of the right university and tell you honestly what the visa asks for. If studying abroad is out of reach on your budget, we will say so, and show what the same money buys at home.

Questions people ask
- How do I choose a study abroad agent in Ghana?
- Ask four things before you pay anyone. Who pays the agent: the family, the university, or both? What exactly is the fee for, and is it in writing? Will the application be in your own name with your own login, so you can see it? And will they tell you plainly when the budget does not reach? Be wary of any agent who promises admission or a visa, asks for cash into a personal account, or will not show you the university's offer letter. Pathways is free to the family because universities pay us when a student enrols.
- How much does a study abroad agent charge in Ghana?
- Agents charge in different ways: a fee from the family, a commission from the university, or both, and some charge extra for visa support. Because the models differ, ask for the total the family will pay, in writing, and what each part covers. With Pathways the family pays us nothing; you pay only the university's deposit and tuition, an English test, the visa fee and any proof of funds.
- What does Pathways cost my family?
- Nothing. Universities pay SchoolRegistry a recruitment fee when a student we place enrols. What your family pays goes to third parties: the university's deposit and tuition, an English test, the visa fee and any proof-of-funds requirement.
- Does the university's fee change which programme you recommend?
- No. The shortlist is ordered by fit to the student first, then by cost to the family, and that rule is printed on every plan. A percentage fee would tempt an agent toward the dearest programme, so the rule is printed instead of left to trust.
- Can you guarantee admission or a visa?
- No, and anyone who says they can is lying to you. We match the profile to universities it fits, prepare a complete and honest file, and tell you what the visa asks for before you spend money on an application.
- Do you tell me how likely a visa refusal is?
- Not yet. Refusal rates differ by the applicant's nationality, and we do not yet hold reliable figures for Ghanaian applicants, so the plan does not show a refusal rating. It does flag the things in your own file that an officer will look at, such as a previous refusal, funds below what the visa asks for, or an English grade below the usual bar.
- Who handles the application?
- A counsellor works your application through our partner platform, chases the documents, and handles the offer, the deposit and the visa letter. The visa application itself is yours, prepared with our checklist. We never lodge it in your name.
- What if my budget does not reach any destination?
- The plan says so before any application fee, and points to what the same money buys at home: universities and colleges on our after-senior-high-school pages, and the Academy's career courses. A family that cannot fund abroad is not a lost lead to us.
- How do I reach a person?
- Write to pathway@schoolregistryghana.com. After you submit a plan, a counsellor contacts you within one working day on the number and email you gave.
