CWA and GPA calculator for Ghanaian university students
Enter each course's credit hours and its grade point or mark, and the tool returns the credit weighted average across all of them. Use grade points for a GPA or CGPA and marks out of 100 for a CWA. It carries no grading scale of its own, so your university's handbook stays the authority on what class an average earns. It adds up four courses to start and takes as many more as you need.

Questions people ask
- How to calculate your CWA?
- A cumulative weighted average multiplies each course's mark by its credit hours, adds those products up, and divides by the total credit hours. A course with more credit hours moves the average more. Enter your marks out of 100 in the calculator and it does the same sum.
- How can I convert my CWA to GPA?
- There is no single conversion. Each university sets its own scale from marks to grade points, so there is no single conversion. Your university's academic handbook has the table.
- How to calculate your CWA in Knust?
- The method is the credit weighted average above. Which courses and credit hours count is set by KNUST, so take them from your own transcript. KNUST's own handbook sets its grading scale.
- What class is a 2.2 GPA?
- That depends on the university's scale, and different universities use different scales and cut points. The class belongs to the university's own scale. Your university's handbook states its classes.
- What CWA is first class?
- The boundary is set by each university, so check the handbook for your own institution.
- What is the highest CWA in KNUST?
- KNUST's handbook gives the scale, and the highest possible average depends on the marks scale. If marks run to 100, a credit weighted average cannot exceed 100.
- Can I raise my GPA from 2.0 to 2.5 in 1 semester?
- It depends on how many credit hours you have already earned and how many you take this semester. The semester average you would need is (target times all credits, minus current average times earlier credits) divided by this semester's credits. If that number is above your scale's highest grade point, one semester cannot do it. Try your own numbers in the calculator.
