Kasoa is the capital of the Awutu Senya East Municipality in the Central Region. It sits about 24 km from Accra on the south-eastern edge of the region. The 2021 census counted 236,527 people in the municipality, and almost all of them live in urban areas. Trade drives daily life. Shopping and selling happen at the old and new markets, and most people work in sales, services and skilled trades. The assembly reports steady growth in school numbers. The assembly counts 49 public and 286 private basic schools, so parents have a lot of choice and a lot to compare. In March 2026 work began on another new school in the town.
