About Ho

Ho is the capital of the Volta Region and the seat of the Ho Municipal Assembly. Farming is the mainstay of the municipal economy, and the town is the regional capital and main commercial centre. Two public tertiary institutions are based here. The University of Health and Allied Sciences started teaching in 2012 and is the only public university in Ghana devoted wholly to the health sciences. Ho Technical University goes back to a technical institute founded in 1968. Mawuli School, opened by the Evangelical Presbyterian Church in 1950, was the first senior high school in the former Trans-Volta Togoland area. Each year the Asogli State marks its Yam Festival in Ho, usually around September.
